On Wednesday’s Backchat, we’re talking about China-US relations, after the meeting between Presidents Xi Jinping and Joe Biden on Monday. President Biden has promised there will be no “new Cold War” with China, while President Xi said the world is big enough for both China and the United States to prosper. Mr Xi also stressed that differences between the two countries should not be an obstacle to growing relations. The two leaders were meeting on the sidelines of this week’s G20 summit on the Indonesian island of Bali. It was their first face-to-face meeting since Mr Biden became president. What can we learn from the meeting? How has this changed China-US relations? What does it mean for the world?
